Klonopin

I was prescribed Klonopin yesterday for my anxiety issues and I was just wondering how others responded to it. I am also a little skeptical about taking it for fear of becoming addicted. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pinkpod,

I was on Konopin and it does work pretty good, but I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose nor tell you how to take it. I am really medication sensitive so with the Klonopin, I only took it if I needed it. Also, I only needed a half of a pill so I broke it in half. With Klonopin, you can do this. I think some people do need help with the managing component of anxiety and medication does help. Klonopin is not as bad as some of the others and if you keep it to just taking it as needed, you will be fine. If you need it every day, take it everyday. If you need it every 6 hours, take it every 6 hours, but do not overdue it because there are side effects and if you have had problems with addications in the past, proceed with caution. Can I ask you if you have Panic Disorder or just generalized anxiety because that will make a difference as to what kind of anxiety med is best for you. If it is more of a panic attack and only lasts a couple of minutes to a half hour or so, than Xanax is a good choice because it is fast acting and does not last as long in your system. However, Xanax is more addictive than some of the other benzodiazepines like Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin and others. For something that will last longer with relief and calming effect, Klonopin is the better choice. Again, I am not a doctor and I cannot tell you how and what to take. I hope this helps. You won't know until you try it. Let me know how it goes. The side effects are not terrible with Klonopin. Just use caution as with any other med.

Ok. Good Luck :)

Dollye

Thanks for the feedback Dollye. I have generalized anxiety disorder and for the past few weeks it is becoming unbearable. I took one pill last night and it did seem to help me settle down enough to focus and do some of my schoolwork. So far so good :)

Hello Pinkpod, I have been on Klonopin's for years now and it helps me. I have generalized anxiety disorder along with some other things. I am suppose to take 1mg 3x a day but I just take it when I need it basically. Once your system gets used to it which should take no more than three weeks you should be able to tell more about it. Also, for future purposes pay attention the the name of the pharmacy on the bottle it comes in. That makes a difference too or at least it has with me. Good Luck!!
