LET ME COME IN Darkness comes down now, hardly can see,

LET ME COME IN

Darkness comes down now, hardly can see,
I feel a darkness risking in me.
Out on the outside, that’s where I’ve been.
Out on the outside, let me come int.

Look through the window, give me some light
Tell me you love me. Say it’s all right.
Open the door now, I lost my key.
Shut out the darkness rising in me.

i keep on knocking, no one is there.
Windows are black and the walls are all bare.
I stand in the darkness, followed by fear.
Tell me I’m dreaming, tell me you’re here.

look through the window, give me some light.
Tell me I’m home now, say it’s all right.
Out on the outside, that’s where I’ve been.
Mother and father, let me come in.

Beautiful share!

@CKarma thank you! I loved the poem when I read it. It is so sad it makes me want to cry. annie

Wow how rare a poem from the musical The Me Nobody Knows - Children's Voices from the Ghetto. Based on the book - Edited by Stephen M. Joseph. The poem makes a beautiful song and is very emotional when sung in the play.

@RichAired I had no idea where it came from. I found it in a book of poems/songs. Thank for for providing the reference for us. and thanks for commenting!
