I am looking for email and/or messenger friends who also have schizophrenia or other mental illnesses. I have 2 friends with schizophrenia and like them a real lot and find we always have a lot in common. I'm intelligent and able to converse about pretty much everything. I am a christian but I am also tolerant (up to a degree ... I don't like satanism). My interests you can pick up from my profile. Oh, and I have a girlfriend right now so no romantic interests :). The schizophrenia I have for about 10 years now and I can handle it though I can't hold a regular full-time job. I'm kind and polite.
Hey! I have schizoaffective disorder and I've been looking for someone who has the same disorder or one similar. I've had schizoaffective disorder for about 3 or 4 months now. I've just been trying to find someone to talk to who goes through the same things i do. I have auditory and rarely visual hallucinations. I have a boyfriend so I am also not looking for a romantic interest but maybe we can chat sometime! Just message me! :)
I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, too, Amanda. It's really great that you are aware of the disorder and seem to be able to write here. The first and only episode so far that I have had was about 6 years ago. I've been on the medication given to me ever since and have not had any hallucinations or serious thought problems since. I thank God! I am a Christian also and was happy to read Daniel's post. Well, have a good end of the week and hope to read more of your comments.
hi,
I have schizoaffective disorder also. I've had it for thirty years...although the diagnosis itself is not that old. Initially I was diagnosed with Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenia and psychotic depression...but they changed it to schizoaffective once that diagnnosis was known about.
I'm a Christian too. I love worship music as well as contemporary Christian music (Jars of Clay is my favorite group) ...I'm so upset because my laptop died and all of my music for my mp3 player was on it! So I've been stuck listening to the same music for months and months.
I've had well over 30 psychiatric hospitalizations over the years. I know that that is a terrible record to hold..but it's just the way it is. I did have a fifteen year period after my daughter was born, when I did very well and was not hospitalized for quite a while. I'm hoping to repeat that now...I've been out for a year now..
If anyone doesn't mind me asking, what drugs are you on for schizoaffective disorder?.. Im on abilify and every 2 weeks i have to go up in mg's because it quits working. Im going to make an appt with the dr again this week because the 15 mg doesn't work and if 20 doesn't then we have to try something new.
Cynthia- your a really strong woman for having to go through all that! I still live with my parents and my mom is determined not to send me to a hospital no matter how bad it gets.
AMANDA<
I take Abilify, Trileptil, welbutrin, and loxatane
This is the first combination that has worked for me in five years of trying different ones. It keeps the negative symptoms down to a minimum, and the positive ones are down to a dull roar. It doesn't make me too tired and I'm finally losing weight (I'd gained 80 pounds on all the others)....
It really individual though about what you will respond to and what side effects you'll have. Just keep trying different things until you land on a good one!
