Looking for information

Hi. I'd like to hear from the other members of this group on how and why this group on chronic pain was started. Thank-you.

I would hope it was so that anyone suffering from pain could find useful information and support, along with learning about ways to learn more. Here is an example:

It's a free Webinar this Wed. 6/30 @7pm CST on Why Your Dr Can't Help You With Your Pain hosted by Dr. James Gruft, a Pain Management Specialist, Founder of From Pain to Wellness Clinic near Chicago, and author of, From Pain to Wellness: Getting Help and Finding Freedom From Chronic Pain. I've attended the last two and my best friend thought it was amazing. the topic was Fibromyalgia and helped her a lot. Hope you will consider logging on.

I have fibromyalgia, sciatica, bilateral neuropathy, diabetes, high cholestrol. The pain from the fibromyalgia never ever completely goes away. I got the sciatica from being rear ended 2 times. I was the one who was at the stop, and got hit from behind.

All I can tell you is that I TRULY understand what it is like to take all of your meds, maybe have my pain level go down to a 4 out of 10, and then within a couple of hours have the pain number slowly escalate. I'm on slow acting morphine, short acting morphine for break through pain, and baclofen for muscle spasms.

My meds come in blister paks, so that I don't use everything up at once, which in all honesty I probably would go through them alot faster than when my script says that I can only pick up weekly and there is just enough there to get me through the week.

The truth is I don't think that each dosage is enough to get my pain completely under control, so I'm constantly trying "keep up" with my pain and I'm freakin frustrated with my doctor.

Why do they all think that we're a bunch of addicts? Am I dependant on opiates? Yes I am. Do I need them to have a half tolerable life. Yes I do. Does my doctor give me enough at the start to get my pain under control? No he doesn't.And I don't know why. I don't know why he'll say "I'm not going any higher than 180mg of morphine for pain 3x per day, and no more than 40mg of fast acting morphine no more than 2x per day. I'm frustrated tonight.
Freekin hot outside tonight. Sweating buckets. 35 degrees celsius, not sure what that is fehrineheit.
Talk to you later.

Sincerely,
babsbro
