I have no idea how to make friends. I get lonely because I do not have friends but I can be a friend to others.
Hi Wendy, I am sure that you would be such an amazing friend. Do you live in an area where you can get out to community events and maybe even a local cafe. I love going to a cafe and talking to a nice person next to me. I've met good friends through local events in my town.
wendy
being a friend isnt hard hon u just have to put yourself out there in the first place, when we get a new foster child often a teen these days we look for all the local social events they can attend and off we/they go sometimes they stay in the background but sometimes they are in the thick of things and meet people which is half the battle for friends.
we allso try and make sure they do hobbies outside the home and our latest one is into trains model ones so they go to a group on a monday night where others have the same passion it breaks the ice and allows them to have something in common to start a conversation, although they dont have a friend yet they do now know several people who have been inviting them to other functions so we hope they have a friend soon
and it will happen for them as they mix and socialize with others who allso need a special friend
good luck

You'd mentioned you adopted a dog, I adopted 2 Hurricane Katrina dogs. Are you capable of taking yours for a walk? As you'd mentioned that you have some challenges, I wasnt sure.
All my strengths.
April
Yes I can take my dog for walks but I have people around that help me I will be able to do this as I get use to walking with my braces.
ATTA girl, I presume that you'll start easy, one block at a time huh, & will help to clear your mind a bit by enjoying the outdoors & fresh air.
Take care of you.
April
You got it one step at a time I love being outside on nice days.
wendy
there u go then say hi to all those others who like the wide outside and see if u see some of them on a regular bases to just have a general chat about the weather and see if anything developes from there

Hi Wendy, that's so fantastic; getting outside with your dogs and taking it slowly is so great. And, I agree with Domestic, say hello to people passing by. I don't have a dog, as my building won't allow them, but when I walk outside I say hello to all of the dogs and then make conversation with their owners. I've met so many nice people this way.
This summer I would take my dog to the park and yes I did say hi to others plus there are other dog owners on my street. as far as small talk I do that but it will get better thank u 2 for the adice it sure helps me. I'n very happy that I found this website.
wendy
it should be us who thanks u for being here hon, yes the small talk does expand after a while but why not go on some of these pet grooming courses they do to meet others who have a shared interest that helps break the ice, many years ago i went on an art weekend not that i can draw but it was amazing and people were so friendly and helpful i met my long time pen pal there

That's so so so fantastic! You have everything down pat in terms of getting out and meeting nice new people. I love that your nails are blue, how fun and fabulous. Ooooh la la!
And, love the picture of your puppy; what type of dog and how old?
My dog was 4 years old at the time of that picture.
He just turned 7 on the 5th of this month.
Oh so precious, love your dog. You are so lucky! I hope to get one soon as well.
