Man Used Online Dating Sites To Defraud Women To The Tune Of 15 Million

This is a reason to really err with caution when dating online, as there are scam artists everywhere and online dating is one way for them to prey on innocent people simply looking for love;

"A man accused of bilking several women out of a total of $1.5 million allegedly used online dating sites to meet potential victims.

Toronto Police arrested the suspect on Monday and believe there may be more victims.

One of his alleged victims is a widow in Vancouver, the first person who complained she was defrauded.

The accused allegedly portrays himself as an international businessman and venture capitalist.

He targets single women and senior women online and in some cases, proposes marriage.

Officers have found two women who said they were engaged to the accused. The parents of these women have also been identified as victims.

The accused is known to travel across Canada, including Toronto, Halifax, Montreal and Vancouver.

Arvind Kumar Sanmugam (pictured), 49, has been charged with:

Fail to comply
Revocation of Bail
Criminal Breach of Trust."
