The mix of caffeine and alcohol is quite a scary combination, as it's a potentially deadly one;
"Americans love their caffeine — in coffee, colas and now in their alcohol.
But mixed, particularly in high volumes, the combination of caffeine and alcohol can be deadly.
That's why toxicologists and doctors are encouraged to see the U.S. Food and Drug Administration crack down on the makers of drinks such as Four Loko and Joose, which experts compare to two cups of coffee combined with the equivalent of four or five beers.
Why caffeine and alcohol are so toxic together isn't fully understood, but the combination appears to impair a drinker's judgment more than drinking alcohol alone. That has led to what some researchers call "toxic-jock syndrome."
Dear friend, I wish a lot of young people will read this very important article. Majority of the time, people do not realize that these two substances are very strong even when used separately, when combined, the consequences are very devastating, to say the least. Thank you again and God bless you.
My boyfriend had been drinking Four Lokos and other caffine/malt liquor blends for a couple years now. In the beginning it wasn't so terrible, although when he did get drunk it was a much more violent sort of sick than when he was on vodka or something normal. After a year or so, he started getting stomachaches and popping tums every couple of hours, as well as putting on a lot of weight (donno if that's just my ED talking or what). Good riddance to Four Loko's and drinks like them, I'm sick of babysitting a drunk 26 year old.
MotokoAramaki, I am so sorry for what you've been dealing with, that's so awful. Though a perfect example as to why these beverages should all be pulled off of the shelves and why bars should not serve alcohol mixed with energy beverages, as most of them do.
