My baby nephew, who is now 2 yrs old, was diagnosed with scoliosis a year ago. The doctor stated that my nephew wouldn't be able to walk before the age of 2. But he is now with the help of the brace but he still stumbles when he tries to run around playing with his big brother. I can tell my nephew is strong and determined but am worried because recently the doctor said that he might need surgery in a few years. Anyone has stories/experiences about having a spinal surgery?

Only advice I can give is have surgery as a final and last resort only. Especially being so young. I was 18 when I had mine and wish at times I wouldve tried other options. But him being so young it might be a diff story also. For him surgery might be the only option. Just please check out every option out there.

@matt72y hi are you fine after the surgery ? I have 60 degree curve and my lungs are getting pressed because of it. i have done physical therapy and brace for eight years and my back improved but i am back to 60 degree now. would u suggest me surgery ?

You should look into the Schroth Method for your nephew. They have excellent outcomes with children.
