My brother has been diagnosed with schizophrenia....he will not take meds...he lives with my mom who has recently been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. I am concerned about what is to become of him when she passes away. Does anyone know of a program or place that could help him?

hey there, I am not sure how old your brother is, but if he is over 18 there is not much you can do as legally he would be an adult. As long as he is not in active danger of hurting himself or others, he cannot be forcibly placed anywhere. I have heard that it is possible, tough but possible to get kind of like power of attorney, so you can make medical decisions (including medicine, and services). Has anyone heard of doing that?

Yes I've heard of what you posed about medical power of attorney. However I believe the loved one with the disease has to consent to it. It's very hard when they think they have no problem.
