My first successful month

I smoked for the better part of 36 years. OMG, that is forever. On Feb 4th, I began my journey to be a non smoker. I began with the patch. I found out the first day to not try to sleep with it on. You don't sleep!! I really missed the oral fixation of smoking. I knew it was overdue for me to quit and my doctor was very concerned. I have had 2 blood clots in my lung and have been lucky that I didn't have a stroke either time. I have had the patch in the hospital a few times and it really helped but I needed more. I bought a electronic cigarette online. I found one that didn't have reoccurring billing for the filters. It was my choice if and when I purchase more and they deliver within 2 days. Its called abetterhealthway.com. Once I received the e-cigarette, I no longer required the patches. I purchased the quit kit for the e-cigarette which is 4 boxes of filters from high nicotine, medium, low and zero. I am down to zero now within 2 weeks. Its amazing. I am so proud of myself. Willpower has never been my strong suit. Each day is better than the day before. The best part is the kisses I get from my husband. He has never smoked and now that I don't taste like an ashtray, the loving deep kisses just about knock me off my feet,

Kellygirl, CONGRATULATIONS on quitting and for being so strong. I think that you are so amazing for getting through this on your own. Please stay strong and stay on this positive path. Keep sharing and let us know how you are doing.

Kellygirl, EXCELLANT JOB & stay strong.

hang in there-you can do it! thanx for the tip about the e-smokes,nicotine patches are more nicotine than I have in me when I'm smoking.HOWEVER : I am addicted and have a heart problem now-I have to ,need to, WANT to quit.Thanx for sharing

hi, i have tried to quit several times. I am trying again and hoping to quit for good. Had a terrible scare from doctor last week, found spots on lung, says its not cancer, but have to go get rechecked in 4 months. I want to go cold turkey. Is chewing nicotine gum or patch helpful?

I think anything may be helpful as I'm getting tired of coughing all the time YUK!!!!!!

Congratulations to you Kelly on quitting smoking as I am always glad to hear when someone stops this habit as I smoked for 27 years and have been a non smoker now for 5 years and I am loving it !! Keep up the good work !! :)

Kellygirl congrats on your quit. I too was a long-term smoker, and, quit thanks to first the patch, then e-cigs with no nicotine. It's going on 6 weeks for me, and, naturally, I'm just taking it one day at a time.

I had a heart attack 6 years ago, and, that didn't stop me from smoking. Then I had 3 more heart catheterizations with stent implantation.....no that didn't stop me either.

I'm pretty sure the next incident......death....would've stopped me, but, I'm hoping me quitting now at least helps me live longer.

Thanks for sharing, and, keep up the good work.

Good job !!! I'm happy for u I'm on day three and so proud of myself after 14 years I have finally did it good luck too u :)

To Kellygirl, Joanie1297 and Lyric Bug I congratulate you all taking the baby steps you need to take to quit smoking. Take one day at a time because each day that goes by you become more and more in control and not the cigarettes. Before you know it the days turn into weeks and the weeks into months and hence you are smoke free. Doing some simple exercises at home will help take the edge off and make you feel better. Keep up the good work !! :)

Hello Badboy: Thank you for the words of support, and, right now that's just what I need. Not having an easy day of it today even though it's been a while. What simple exercises can we do at home to take the edge off?

Your input is appreciated. Thanks again.

Oh, I concur about the Kisses from my husband. now that I too ,am a NON SMOKER. I ENJOY, kissing again. and I am not embarrassed and ashamed of a being a smelly person. with the best moment in the world ~ kissing .

It is just one of my awards of being a non smoker.
