My head says no but my feet still go

Please someone out there tell me of any resource that really understands, we, these smart people, who function in most every aspect of life, but feel the need to walk into a store (my drug of choice is thrift, consignment, etc) and make A purchase. Even when we know that we are going to go without gas, food, paying a bill, etc when we do so. And that we are not (at least not all of us) the same group as the HOARDERS on TV.

oh yes, the second hand store is for me. Al the colors are lined up, and no two are alike. I just want to unwind from work, and dont want to pay full price for anything. Even if I don't need it. Salvation Armene

It is a way of being in control of SOMETHING, feeling powerful, but not in a mean way.

Hi justwalkby, Yes, it is an addiction. I have done the same. But we can get better of it. One lady I heard talk about her shopping addiction and how she got better said she would load her cart up then before she checked out she would go through it and remove anything she didn't need or have to ave. She said most of the time she walked out not buying anything. I have done this also. You can get better one day at a time. Keep sharing with us. We are here for you. ((((hugs))))
