My husband told me he thinks he wants a divorce. Married almost 19 years. I am just sick to my stomach with hurt, fear, anger. Really need some support.

@Hanna310, this happened to me back in Feb of 2008, just before Valentine;s day. My ex-wife came home and just said: I don't want to married anymore, no, I don't want to be married to you anymore! All I could do was look at her, and then say: I'm going to walk the dog! Crazy right? I was in shock, but I shouldn't have been, because I saw it coming, and I just blew it off. I know your hurt and pain, but you can make it through it.

@Hanna310 I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but you can turn this situation around. If you're dead serious about making your marriage work, ask yourself how many marriages break up because both partners are getting all of their needs met. There aren't any. We have to figure out which needs are not being met and why and then meet those needs constructively.
I gave another member on here some advice that they found helpful:
"With my relationship clients, I have seen that any major relationship decision should be preceded by a 90 day assignment where you thoroughly investigate your partner's needs, values, and goals and your compatibility as a couple. Even if you decide to separate, you'll do so from a place of goodwill and insight."
