My r leg below is burning and the top part of my foot is blown up like a good year blimp
Do you wear suppression stockings? Is the burning sensation a new development or something that occurs/occurred before? I use to have a tremendous amount of pain and burning in my legs and feet at one time. Elevating my legs has always been helpful.
Has always but the swelling of my top part of my foot n toes is really my concern I've talk to my vascular doctor and nothing has been done yet. It only took the doctor only 52 yes to finally tell me that it got lymphedema real bad instead telling me about it earlier. Stocking don't help I use a complete foot ,leg pump it helps but about 2 hours later I'm back to square one again.
@verysore Have you seen other doctors? My first doctor was inept! Told me “no cure, live with it!” I got so depressed from pain and immobility I considered suicide. Then my husband MADE me see a new doctor and that doctor told me “let’s get you better!” I’m on medication to help my body get rid of fluid, a foot/leg pump, exercise/stretches daily, and nightly massages. My pain and swelling are greatly decreased. Maybe you should check out a new doctor. Information on lymphedema seems scarce and I think a lot of doctors just don’t know how to treat it.
I also have the leg pumps and use them 3 time a day for one n half hours a day and my leg looks n feel great but about an hour later I'm back to square one.I've massage them put special cream on it
I have primary lymphedema of the lower extremities (born with it). Initially, I started having swelling in my left ankle and foot at the age of 16; as I have aged, the symptoms have progressed to both feet and - especially in heat and humidity - the edema can progress all the way up to my knees. I've been to physical therapy to learn self-massage techniques and wrapping (I'm horrible at being consistent with either, which is my fault). As a mom, I'm very rarely able to be off my feet (elevating them is one of the sure-fire ways to bring down the swelling) so I rely on custom compression stockings. They are comfortable enough but they are hot and unattractive. Unfortunately, when I don't wear them I swell. I can do all the other things to help, but ultimately I have to wear the stockings. I would recommend trying to find a pharmacy with a durable medical equipment department, and see if they can place an order for custom compression garments. When I got mine, insurance covered part of it; not sure if that's still the case, but it is definitely worth looking into.
I agree with hillary that compression stockings are worth it. For sure, they're not fun to put on or wear, but they are really essential for managing LE, IMO. I buy mine online at discount surgical.
