Nervous about starting chemo tomorrow

Last week i had an Echo & got my port inserted & was supposed to start R-CHOP last thursday. Drove an hour to start the chemo & all mentally prepared to start but was unable to start because they did the wrong hepatitis test before starting the rituxan to make sure I have not had the disease or been exposed to it I guess, anyway I had to wait another week before starting & now have to get mentally ready again. My Dr prescribed zofran & reglan for possible nausea. Are there any other meds that are better for possible nausea? i know they are gonna want me to drink copious amounts of water every day. They tell me that tumor cells are excreted in urine along with the chemo & gotta stay hydrated. Any other advice to combat possible side effects of the drugs? I keep reading about terrible fatigue that also comes with it. I have been trying to walk every day & hopefully can continue when my RBC drop. I want to do everything i can to try & get through this & stay strong. Thanks for any thoughts or advice..

Good luck Gina! Everyone''s experience is different. I just finished with R-CHOP and after my first treatment, we had to add 3 more anti-nausea meds. I took the following:

Zofran
Lorazapam
Emend
Deximethisone
Aloxi

I originally started with Compazine and Zofran and was really sick. There is no reason to vommit. Talk with your doctor and make sure they know how you are doing. Once we figured out the anti-nausea meds, the treatments went so much better (still tough but no nausea).

I hope all goes well for you!

And I rarely took an anti nausea pill, and only lost a lil bit of hair. Everyone IS different. Lots and lots and lots of water is the best thing. I found cooled peppermint tea helped with the preddyzone bitter taste. I learned to slowly pace out my day, and go with the road of least resistance. If I was tired, I was sedentary. When the preddyzone kicked in, I got stuff done. If people/situations stressed me, i avoided them. I screened my phone calls. I did online shoppng as opposed to going into germy stores. Plan on a huge night sleep. I would go like 10/11 hours....Bring stuff to do during treatment. I used to call it my 'spa day' as it was all about me, and I wouldn't prepare dinner that night.
good luck...and don't worry!

Spa Day-I like that..I also quite enjoyed my day, I would go by myself because I didn't want to entertain anyone else, it was my day to read do puzzles and rest and I didn't share it. Side effects are different for everyone. I have read here where people said it was a "piece of cake" I wouldn't say that but it was very tolerable. Don't worry enjoy your day!
