Hi I am a 27 year old recovering bulemic. I was bulemic in secrecy for 7 years until my parents found out before my senior year in college. I attended an out patient eating disorder clinic but found I did not like their mandatory group therapy sessions. i was not ready at the time to discuss my problems in a group setting. I am now managing my eating disorder (with ocassional setbacks) with therapy and medications for anxiety and ADD (which has helped me feel a sense of control). I am now joining this support group because I would like to discuss issues with people who REALLY understand what it's like to have an eating disoorder. I talk about it to my husband but he just wants to solve the "problem" by telling me to Just work out out and eat better...if only it were that easy!
hey goathill, welcome to the site!!

Maedi,
I think I have setbacks when I am alone and over eat...and then feel guilty about eating too much. I try to tell myself that I won't gain 10 lbs overnight if I think I've had too much to eat but sometimes the feeling just takes over. I think when I am extra stressed and feel overwhelmed I have setbacks...
hi goathill!!
welcome to the site! congrats on your recovery minus the occasional setbacks. :)
i have the same problem with trying to convince myself I won't immediately blow up into a huge person if i overeat one meal... its very tough to keep the food down though.
stress also contributes to overeating, etc.
can you please share how your therapy is helping you? i started a few months ago and am not really feeling any progress.
thanks and welcome again!

hey caroline, you're back!!!!!! :-) awesome!
goathill, you really sound as if you're working hard on things and you should be **** proud of that!!
what are the things in your life that stress or overwhelm you? has your therapist worked on finding ways to cope with those? do you maybe keep a journal to find triggers in more detail?
