#NODATINGSPAMALLOWED
One of the main reasons that we do not allow dating sites to be posted here within our Herpes groups is that we care about our members. We know what it feels like to first be diagnosed and feel as though all hope is lost...it's not. It does get better but we all heal at different rates. We do not want to have any STD dating sites posted on here to make anyone feel that would be their only option....it's not, believe me. So to all of those money hungry std dating spammers, SCREW YOU and we will date how and when we choose!!!!
Another very important issue to consider is how many sites are affiliated with a larger one that will sell the member's info without their permission.
Example:
http://tcattorney.typepad.com/techlaw/2012/01/successfulmatchcom-class-action-filed-alleging-unfair-competition-and-californias-consumers-legal-re.html
"Consumers believe they are registering for one particular dating platform found at a domain name when, in fact, their profiles are shown across hundreds or perhaps thousands of websites of which they have no prior knowledge."
"Some of these web sites seriously misrepresent who the registered member is as a person and their potential STD by placing those profiles on [other] domains..."
"While the website promised privacy, confidentiality, and that it would not share information with third parties, it turned out that [the website] was simply one of over a thousand different websites, funneling member profiles and personal information into a single database that in fact shared that information with third parties."

I wish I had read this before posting about the dating app project I am working on so sorry for violating the community rules! I couldn't agree more with how terrible the HSV dating sites are, especially the positive singles example. I mentioned it in the comments of my post, but because I didn't want to leave it up I figured I would reach out here. Have you found any places people with HSV are talking about how to solve the issue together? I have a team of professionals with HSV together working on building tech solutions for the community. As I mentioned, the researcher on our team is feeling good about the vaccine in trial right now, but like we saw with the vaccine for HPV there is still a lot of work to be done on social acceptance. We don't want to make people feel like a dating app is the only solution, we think our plan will give people the confidence to be more open, which is the way to get rid of the stigma. I would love your thoughts.
@truster
To be honest, I just come here to give support so I haven’t looked for or have heard of any places or sites where people with HSV are talking about how to solve the stigma together. We did have a moderator that made “STOMP THE STIGMA” lanyards and spoke out very openly in public. As for a place or site, haven’t heard of any.
Hmmm, ok thanks for the thought, do you know who the moderator was? I'd love to reach out. Thanks for the help and I'll keep you posted on our progress, it feels like we're on the cusp of a major shift, so hoping to get as much community involvement to fuel a change. Thanks again!

Good luck to you and do keep us updated. Just today, while I was doing my Saturday cleaning, I had Sex and the City playing on the tv…I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be nice if HSV was addressed realistically in a show”?
Just a thought…maybe someday the stigma will be broken.
You're absolutely right, media is a key part of our focus. We'll be including a required donation to a cure as part of joining truster. In the talks about the best place to use the money on top of funding cure researchers we are exploring ways to eliminate the negative perception through connections in hollywood to have constructive conversations in screen. Its still early, but we are absolutely thinking the same thing.
For the record, I don't think we are that far off, 2020 would be the 50 year anniversary of the creation of the stigma... not a bad time to end it :)
