Thats definitely true for me. I am just starting to learn about codependency and have realised that I have very low self esteem and a very low opinion of myself
For me, exterior beauty was easy, but i didn't want anyone to get close enough to me to see the real me. They might feel the inside didn't match the outside. Problem was, all i ever wanted in my relationships with men was for them to acknowledge that they could really "see" me. It took a special guy to finally do that and he could do it because he was a mess himself. So now i have both him and me to deal with. LOL
