Hi, I was diagnosed in March with Hodgkins. My Dr told me I only need 2 chemo treatments that are broken into two parts with a total of 4 infusions. She then told me at my last Dr. appointment that if my PET scan is positive then I'll have 4 more infusions. We are praying that the scan is good. I will have that done on Monday the 23rd. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any pain with such a short treatment. Throughout the 4 infusions, and the last two being the worse I have had what I can only explain as bone pain. It feels like someone is putting needles into my bones. Two weeks ago it was localized in my left arm and this time it is in my right. I mentioned it to my Dr and she said that I shouldn't have pain with such a small amount of chemo. The pain is so bad that I just lie in bed crying. 10 mg of Lortab only dulls the pain. Has anyone experienced this?
Hi and welcome... I had all kinds of pan during treatment especially bone/body pain caused by the Neulasta shot that they would give me the day after chemo.
If you are receiving the shot then I would say your pain comes from that. My nurse recommended Loratadine (the antiallergy med) for the pain. They do not know why it works but it does. I bought the generic brand at walmart and it made things much easier for me.
Good luck with your PET scan.
Hi,
I never had the following day shot, so I don't know about it. I can't say I had any pain that I remember. I hope yours passes quickly.
The only thing I'm receiving is ABVD. I took a hot bath and that helped, but with four kids I can't stay in the bath all day. :)
You can certainly try! Don't forget to top up the hot water.
I don't like pain, but I'm not good with pain relief. I had morphine after surgery, and Tramadol when I got pain in an arm. Both turned me into a ranting fascist, both kept me awake all night. Happily, the pain wasn't for long.
Sorry I don't have anything more hellpful to recommend beyond paracetamol.
