Had a panic attack on the way home just wanted to cry. I was alone and afraid of having another 1 or not be able to stop this 1. Do people take another soon after the other. How do you get rid of them quickly/
They are ugly things, aren’t they? There are a number of things you can try to avoid them or deal with them when they happen. The biggest single thing that helped me was the realization that the panic attack itself doesn’t really do any harm. I wouldn’t want to be driving at the time or doing anything that required concentration, steady hands, or whatever. But it’s not going to kill me, and it will eventually blow over. Once I started thinking about it like a short, sharp attack of food poisoning, I stopped worrying about when the next one would happen, and life got a lot better. If (when) you have another, see if you can just sit there with it and think: “I’ll be glad when this is over” without adding any “What happens if this is forever?” kind of thinking into the mix.
Other things that helped me: meditation, breathing exercises and “coherence” practice (which involves some bio-feedback), finding things (more or less anything) to feel good about (gratitude journalling is good), soothing showers, time with a pet or anything that involves hugging.
Good luck! I hope things improve for you.
May I also suggest a couple things: panic attacks can be eased along with being mindful.
When I’m a safe place )pull over) place a hand on your abdomen and really feel yourself inhale slowly. Focus on the rise and fall of your hand.
Another: carry alcohol wipes with you, open one and inhale it- works like smelling salts to kinda shock the brain to the new “threat.” This also helps some people with nausea!
Remind yourself, as the previous writer said “…this will pass and you’ll be ok…”
O hope these help you!
Will try anything thanks
