My family won't help me pay for a therapist because other therapists I've had have not been able to help me very much, but I feel that having a therapist is a necessary step in my newfound attempt at recovery. Does anyone have any advice on how to find affordable therapy. I also don't have health insurance :( Thanks for nay help!
Seeking and getting professional help is critical....I am glad you are pursuing this! The key is finding a therapist who you can relate to, and sometimes it takes a few tries, but please don't give up!
Some private therapists will offer a sliding payment scale which correlates to your income, so it's more affordable. Free treatment is an unknown, for the most part. You could call the helpline at the National Eating Disorders Association (800-931-2237) and they may be able to offer some help.
good luck!! Jan ♥

You can call your community referral line, which you can probably find the number online.
or
Here is an eating disorder hotline who most likely has a list of therapists you can check out in your area:

Even hospitals offer group counseling and some one on one sessions.
I know how you feel, my parents won't support me taking medicine. It stinks, huh? Please let me know what you find out.
Hope to hear from you soon,
