I don't know if my husband has to have radiation yet or not BUT....
If he does, is he allowed to be around small children during that six weeks? We have a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old.

Thinking back to the day, I had a few questions whether mine had returned or not, but we waited a few weeks and it had not, so don't be to alarmed that there might be a few uncertainties, the doctors just like to be prudent, and that is a good thing.
As for the radiation, your husband can have full contact with anyone, he will not glow in the dark or turn into spiderman ( that was a disappointment for me, I WANTED to glow in the dark and turn into SPIDERMAN )... just joking.
Hang in there, ya'll will be fine.
How cool would it be if I could say I was married to Spiderman!?! Ha, thanks for the laugh, and as always, your insight!
Hi Gregswife,
I am going through radiation right now and they was never brought up to me at all. They made me watch a 10 minute movie, gave me handouts and I met with the staff twice before treatment and I saw nothing of this nature.
Okay, good to know. I just know that when he has his PET scans he has to stay away for a few hours afterward. I guess it's a different type of radiation. Thanks!
Yes, the PET is more Nuclear. The radiation is like getting an xray. I always would joke with my hubby when I got my tests and ask him if I was "glowing"........lol!
Yea, that's right, radiation treatments are like an x-ray, there is no hazard being around children.
Don't think I had a PET scan, had several other kinds though, can't even remember what they were anymore. Did a little research on PET and found out you are indeeed advised to stay clear of children for a few hours until the small amount of radiotracer is flushed from your body. So now I understand why you were asking about that.
Hopefully your husband won't even need any more treatment, so as always, hang in there, ya'll will be fine.
