Recovery...Psyc meds?

I went for the first time ever to an ED specialist and it was alright. Not as bad as I thought. I was overwhelmed because no one had ever gone 'so you suffer from bulimia nervosa correct'? Having to say out loud that yes, that is my label was aweful. Terrible blahh. But after he let me know the care plan he also mentioned psyc meds which I have discovered can be addicting...has anyone had any experience with anti anxiety or antidepressants for treating your ED? I'm just hesitant and don't know where drugs are going to take me...

Do a lot of research on the particular drugs that he's recommending, but don't be afraid to give them a try. They can be a lot of help--give you a leg up in the struggle. Hang in there; I'm so happy that you're taking steps forward! Keep up the good work, and let us know how things go.

well done for admitting to your ED out loud!!! it is hard the first time, i know.
i did use some meds recently and whereas they didn't do it for me i can certainly say, no addiction!
do your research, ask them why they recommend whichever specific ones, maybe see if they can do a serotonin level test (may help to dtermine the right meds for you). if you try any meds, give it a bit of time to settle and just stay aware of how you feel (better, same, worse?).

but think of the chance that they might make recovery just that bit easier! give it a go if you're comfortable with it. if they don't work for you, you can always stop.

I can imagine that it must have been hard to admit it for the first time. But you did it, so good job! I take antidepressants and have been taking them for over a year. At first i didn't notice a difference at all, but after awhile people started commenting on how much happier i seemed. I still wasn't eating but i had a better outlook on it. I had the urge to want to recover. As far as the addiction thing goes.. I personally do NOT think they are addicting.

good luck! :)

thanks so much for your input <333

Probably anti depressents....

Right now I was prescribed an anti anxiety but I feel an anti depressant coming...already on meds and its the 1st day...

its okay....i take anti anxiety and anti depressants also....nothing to be ashamed about hun ♥

A lot of people take them! You aren't crazy because of it!! :)

Thanks guys. It's just hard ya know? To have a doctor look at you and be like right away you need meds :/ thanks for making me feel better though :)

Depression/anxiety go hand in hand with ED's..its very common :)

I can imagine that would be tough! Don't worry too much about that though, just focus on getting better! :)

I will. I need this. We all do!!

let us know *** you feel with them. in the beginning i was always very nauseous and pretty much sleeping all day.

hope you're ok?!

It's a benzo so i'm afraid of becoming addIcted...we all know I have an addictive personality as it is...i'll let you guys know how it goes!

hey honey, how have you been recently?
keep talking :-)

love and hugs
