Seeking Support

Hi, I'm new to the world of online support groups. I've had an eating disorder since I was nine years old (thirteen years). I feel that I've done a lot of the emotional work necessary to build skills to live without my eating disorder, but cannot change my behavior on my own. I'm looking to develop a meal plan and would love to find people to support me in following through with it - feeling comfortable sitting with food, etc. Thanks!

Hi Hunter_gatherer, thank you so much for being here with us and for sharing. I think that you are so strong for working on your emotional self first, that's really the key to getting on track to recovery. It's getting to the root cause of your ED and then going from there. You have already accomplished a big part of it, and now it's working on your relationship with food.

I am a recovered bulimic for 15+ years now, and it was working through my emotional self first and then my relationship with food that got me through recovery. I started looking at food as health gain, nourishment, and then enjoyment. I started off slowly and really working on changing my psychology and outlook on food each and every day. I looked at it as fueling and nourishing my body, I envisioned all that I ate to be such a positive thing for my health and well-being. If you can make your health and well-being your top priority, then all else will start to fall into place.

Please know that I am here for you and here to help you in any way that I can.
