Please, my question here is serious. I am not looking to get high. For five years I've been on a 100mcg fentynal patch. My COBRA insurance ran out in November. My doctor was kind enough to prescribe more than I needed to cover me for a while. This drug cost $710 per month. The cheapest I can get it with my lousy insurance is $350 per month. I'm in the same position with many of my other medicines.
Arizona passed the medical marijuana law so I would qualify to get a card, but before I do that I'd like some input from someone with similar problems. I have herniated discs in my lower back that decompression treatments have not helped. A back surgeon has already told me that surgery is not an option. I have osteoperosis in one of the bones between the discs. Additionally, I have sciatica which Lyrica has been amazing for, but Lyrica is one of the drugs I can no longer afford.
My doctor could prescribe Oxycodone, Percocet, or Vicodin, but all of these cause serious short term memmory problems for me.
Has anyone with similar problems tried using marijuana for serious, debilitaing, chronic pain? Has it worked? What were the negatives?
Hi there! I am sorry for what you are going through and I sincerely hope that you find the relief that you need. I don't personally have experience with this, but I did find a bit of research for you that I hope helps answer some of your questions;

I have always wondered this as well. I'm constantly in pain. I've been told marijuana would solve all that because a lot of it spirals off of my pain. BUT my husband use to be addicted to it. Soooooooo now what?
Hi Maryrose, in your case I'd be very careful not to bring marijuana around your husband because of his previous addiction. Only if you are able to research its benefits and do it elsewhere. Is that a possibility for you?
Not really. Yeah I dont think its worth it..I guess I'll have to stick to naproxen. =P Has anyone else figured out good chronic pain relievers? Baths and massages help me the most.
You're right Maryrose, it's best to support your husband and not try marijuana as a pain relief option. The baths and massages sound wonderful and are a great way to relieve pain. Thank you for sharing.
