Shopping Addiction and scamming

Hi, new here. I’m a 21yo who lives with my parents (I have autism and poor mental health), and I have a serious shopping addiction. I make only 900 dollars on disability and 700 of it goes to rent. I often spend my money on junk food, clothes, lotion, and other useless junk. Recently, I was caught scamming my parents out of cash, lying to their faces that I needed it for the bus when I wanted it to buy stuff. My parents kicked me off the family Walmart and Amazon, and even discussed taking away my credit card. I have hit rock bottom today, I barely have enough money to pay my credit card bill. What should I do?

Hi friend,

I’m sorry you’re struggling with this. It’s great that you’re reaching out for help. Consider seeing a therapist to work on your shopping addiction and mental health. Creating a strict budget and seeking advice from a financial counselor can help with managing your debt. Rebuilding trust with your parents will take time, but being honest about your efforts to improve can help. You’re not alone in this—support is available, and taking these steps can help you move forward. With love, SG
