Site Provides Platform For Cyber-Bullying

It's tragic that a site like the one discussed in this article, is providing a platform for cyber-bullying;

"A website for young people to share gossip has been shut down and then reopened for over-18s only, following protests about cyber-bullying.

Some teachers and parents had alleged Littlegossip.com was being used as a platform for children to post personal and sexual smears against their peers.

The site now says it is for adults only but BBC News has found many schools and their pupils still using it.

Users can post gossip anonymously about people at their college or university.

Other users can then vote on whether the posts are true or false.

However, school pupils have been known to use the site.

'Racist abuse'
One example about a named boy at a well-known boarding school says: "Please stop taking drugs the whole time, it's not cool."

Of a girl at the same school one user has written: "Those thunder thighs chug round school. Stop cheating on your boyfriend and sort out the acne. Not attractive."..."

how sad that something meant for good is corrupted and those that it was targeted at loose out again because of the minority, its time we could somehow stop this happening but sadly now u can axcess the net by computer or phone it seems to be escalating daily, its become impossible to keep areas free from malicious people all u have to do is be able to count backwardsforwards and have a date to make u whatever age the site is to sign up mayb we need better joining measures although i dont know enough about the net to come up with any,

It's so sad that sites as such are corrupted by such negative activity and I know that it's so wide spread. I think that the only way to eventually [hopefully] prevent this all together is through continual education about bullying. Sadly, I don't know if it will ever go away, but if we can lessen and lessen it, then that would be a huge feat.

i agree with all u say sometimes this revolution seems to be on the bullies side without meaning to be, so yes educate and educate might eradicate it eventually although im not sure it will be soon

I unfortunately don't think that it will happen anytime soon, but I am so hopeful and optimistic that if we keep shedding light on the topic of cyber-bullying [and bullying in general] then hopefully it will start to subside.
