So I'm a bit upset and don't think I should be. My relative that I am a nanny for wanted to take one of the children to the hospital because they weren't feeling well. And although it is my day off I volunteered to watch the baby while they got checked up. Turns out they have to admit them poor dear. She called me and said she would be staying the night with them. But didn't bother to ask if I had any other plans. Which I did. I had a first date and had to cancel last minute. I know I should be okay with this but things like this happen all the time where she just assumes I have nothing going on in my life. Should I even address this with her or am I making a big deal for nothing?

I would definitely bring it up or she will think that its OK for u to drop everything just for her needs sometimes you have to think about what is best for u

I would bring it up to her, for future events in a gentle fashion. If she is going to be asking you to do stuff on your "Time-Off", you need to be compensated.... because you have a life, and make plans accordingly.
