Starting Treadmill Walking

I've finally started planning for losing weight. Yay me? I wanted to know if anyone else has had any tips with beginners walking on treadmills or in general. I really don't want to overdo myself because of being eager to start. How long would anyone recommend walking for the first week?

I figured I'd walk for at least 30 minutes the first week for at least 5 days if not every day.

Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated! :D

Yay! congrats- losing weight is a combination of exercise and eating right. Look up www.sparkpeople.com-it really helps. 30 mins sounds good also there are other light things you could do like jump rope or biking. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day-keeps you hydrated during workouts and helps curb your appetite. Also make sure you mix up the exercise routine so your body doesnt get used to it as you get further long.
