Stave off Memory Loss by Speaking More Than One Language

My grandmother has dementia and I am continually doing research on Alzheimer’s and dementia. This article discusses how speaking more than one language can possibly delay the effects of memory loss;

"If you speak more than one language, you have a better chance of staving off memory loss and, possibly, the mental and physical decline associated with Alzheimer’s disease. New research shows that even learning a new language later in life can delay the onset of dementia.

Very interesting information regarding the knowledge of different languages. I believe when you speak variety of languages you develop curiosity and proper communication and understanding different cultures, therefore your brain is involve in constant challenge. Thank you very much. God bless you.

Absolutely Marcie! I think that there are so many wonderful benefits to be multi-lingual, though I most especially love that it can help with memory loss. I speak two languages, and would love to at master at least two more.
