For my writing class I had to play around with some of my old poems and change them around. I changed one of mine into a poem of a loved one helping you through ED...
Sitting with emptiness masking your eyes,
shielding yourself with strands of your lifeless hair,
while no relevant words can be brought to my lips.
Tears begin to flow down from your eyes as we embrace
to prevent you from crumbling into pieces.
I part my lips to whisper optimistic aspirations,
yet my faltering voice is full of hesitations and ambivalence.
I take hold of your frail and sallow hands,
and guide you through the infuriated currents.
You lethargically move and stumble down,
but the light behind your eyes begins
to disintegrate the armor you built around yourself.
You glimpse out into the rising sun,
and begin to express avidity for approaching days to come.
Sometimes a laugh escapes your careful façade,
and though unsure, you mention you feel lively and unobscured.
Your shield wanes out of existence as you begin to thrive;
Determination, confidence, and optimism grow with you
as the wings that set you free blossom from your inner self,
and finally it the truth that you can see.
you truly are amazing. your writing speaks so many words and are just beautifully written. im actually in the middle of a poem and working on some art projects so i dont purge anymore.
but ur writing is amazing. keep up the amazing writing.
Liz,
I LOVE art! You should see my notes from school! haha. Its full of doodles. I normally don't have time for formal sketches. Only every once in a while. But it is so relaxing. I also have just discovered poetry. I haven't started that until rather recently. I love the self expression and getting out everything! Jewelry making sounds like so much fun! And landscapes...wow! I cannot do that for the life of me. I have tried so many times but there is just so much to paint! haha.
That is such a fantastic field! You will do great! I have never really followed through with my artistic side, but it is more like a hobby. I am in school for nursing, I am a sophomore :) What year are you?
