They Stopped My Antidepressant

My Veteran's Administrations doctors have made me get off the antidepressants due to my liver function. The problem is I'm not a good person to be around when off the meds. They help me function.

They took my antidepressants away.

The VA psychiatrist who prescribed the antidepressant left the VA and the psychologist now works in a different area. So I have to meet a new shrink and psych. The ones I had just recently earned my trust. And my appointment with my new shrink isn't until July 23rd. And I haven't been assigned a new psychologist yet.

What do I do. That drug was the only thing keeping me on some kind of an even keel. Amazingly, the VA doesn't know what diagnosis they should give me, but the antidepressant controlled my extreme and amazingly fast mood swings.

My family had to deal with med free Michele today. I can't stop crying at the drop of a hat. My husband was afraid I would yell at him if he comforted me, but I was desperate to be comforted. I have been snapping at people all day long and didn't realize what I was doing most of the day. I broke down bawling 4 times today.

I'm the person who takes care of everything in this family. My husband can't drive due to seizures, my step son can't drive cause his license was suspended due to back child support (he couldn't find a job to pay the child support so they suspend his license). My nephew is my ward. He is underdeveloped, was abused by my brother (who I sent to prison), and who can't live with his father cause his father kicked him out of the house.

My brother lived with my mom who is disabled. So now I have to come over to her house and help her, try to get her a house mate (rent her room out), and fix the lack of cell phone service in her home. If we don't rent the room before December, when she looses some of her monthly income, she will lose her home and have to go into assisted living which will screw with her confidence and will require her to give up her two dogs. One of which is an assistance dog.

I'm also dizzy, I think because of a sinus infection, but have to wait to see the doctor Monday.

HOW DO I CONTROL THESE RADICAL MOOD SWINGS. ONE DOCTOR DIAGNOSED ME WITH PTSD, BUT THE OTHERS DON'T AGREE BECAUSE CYMBALTA CONTROLS MY BEHAVIOR. BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT I HAVE. BUT THEY CAN'T SEE ME UNTIL JULY. BUT MY GENERAL DOCTOR MADE ME GET OFF THE MEDS. BUT I HAVE NO CONTROL AND DON'T REALIZE I'M BEING VERBALLY ABUSIVE. BUT I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF EVERYONE BECAUSE THEY;RE ALLD EPENDING OF ME. BUT...

i'm a bit confused, you say the va docs took you off the antidepressant and the end of you post said that your general doc make you get off the meds. since you will be seeing him on monday if there not another type of antidepressent that can be tried in the meantime hun. i would ask and do let him know about the severe mood swings you are having and the you need assistance immediately. sure hope this helps honey.

My general doctor at the VA took me off the antidepressant due to my liver function. I told her about the extreme mood swings and she just shook her head.

Only the shrinks at the VA can prescribe psych drugs though the general doctors can stop them. Then she game me Prednazone for my sinus infection which will make my symptoms worse. so fun.

I won't be seeing my new shrink, my previous one left the VA, until next month. She doesn't even know me yet. They say there's nothing they can do in the mean time.

I can't wait til this is over. In the mean time, ya'll are all I have for support.

P.S. do you live in Houston or the Houston area. I was born in Tomball and lived in Spring for the longest time.
