This is my second trip around. The last time was for six months, then I blew it with just one cigarette. Just got over the mother of all colds, couldn't smoke for two weeks. Thought about e-cig but I have gone this far without nicotine so I think I'll pass. The first three days are the worst. Then come the sudden urges which are intense but they go away quick, and if you can focus on something else they go away even quicker. Forget the rubber band around the wrist. Don't work. The sudden urge is what got me smoking again. Got pretty low when I went six months then started up again. So if you are thinking you can smoke just one and get away with it, believe me, it don't work.
This time around you have us too! coming here and talking out those urges sound like it might be a bit more beneficial, (...more social, and fun too) than the rubber band thing. Stay strong. We are here for you!
The sudden urges are the worst. So far I am hanging in, but I feel like I did when I quit drinking. I am white knuckling my way through it. I understand it's not so much a physical need to smoke as it is psychological but still it really sucks when you are broad sided by a nicotine fit.
