I'm new to this site, this is my first post. Its a rainy day and I'm just feeling lonely, and depressed, I'm going to my first meeting tonight, its time to get a handle on all of me! They say the first step is the hardest, really I can see why, I really dont know what kind of expectations I'm putting into this, I'm trying to see where this road go's, be open minded and what not. I know I need help and I'm looking for it....
adijerblack...welcome to support groups, how brave and courageous are you for taking those steps. anything new is scarey especially when your gonna have to do some "inside" work. there are reasons why we do what we do and your jumping in there to get some help. very admirable hub. knowing we need help and reaching out and looking for it is a first giant step. keep posting on the boards as there are some wonderful people here that will support you. good luck tonight hun
I praise your effort to get to know all of yourself. How uncomfortable this might feel at first, the more enriching your experiences will be. This is one of the first signs of a behavior change already. You're not out there alone anymore. Good luck!
one of my favorite sayings i learned from aa is "nothing changes if nothing changes" will leave you with that and please update us on how things went last night
I, too, am interested in hearing how your first Twelve Step meeting went. What did you think of the group? Do you think you'll be going back to the group next week? Do you think there's a place for it in your overall recovery program? Did you meet anyone you think could function as your sponsor?
I'm also curious to know what else you're doing as part of your recovery program. Do you have any books you are going to be reading? What about therapy? Do you have a counselor you're seeing? If so, how is that working out for you? If not, do you have anyone in mind that you will be seeing? Do you need any help in locating a therapist? Did you know that there are therapists out there who are Certified Sexual Addiction Therapists? Would you like to see someone like that? Do you know where to find a listing of such people?
If you have any questions about the whole recovery process, I'd be more than happy to try and answer them for you. Is there any way I can help you at this point in time? Please let me know if I can help, and also, let us all know how you're doing today. Take care, and we'll all be waiting to hear from you.
