We are not sure what day of self isolation we are on, we just know we are surviving, thriving...well we feel a little like a plant who hasn’t been watered. We miss people and the daily schedule of our lives, but in a way, it is really rather nice. All the things to do, gone, going to bed early, YES PLEASE! Reading books, running, yoga, garage workouts, check mark, getting support on the site, ESSENTIAL, coffee, HELL YES! We all have our priorities and ours are Coffee, Support, Mental Health check ins, Bananas, Turkey Bacon, Eggs and lots of books and crafts, this is how we are going to survive things around here as Coronovirus takes a marathon lap around the world. Are we scared, at times yes, are we panicking, not really. Why? Because we know that panic is a rabbit hole of doom we do not want to crawl down!
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
-Frank Herbert, Dune
To get through this tough time, let’s all practice gratefulness, to all our sanitation workers, thank you, to our doctors, nurses, hospital staff, thank you, to the all the grocery store staff that are working night and day to keep us fed, thank you, to the nutrition staff at schools who are packing food so kids aren’t hungry during this time away from school, thank you, for the teachers who are having to learn how to impart wisdom to our kiddos from a distance, thank you! There is so much to be grateful during this time, so instead of fear and darkness, let’s be mindful and open our hearts to gratefulness and light.
“Scared is what you're feeling. Brave is what you're doing.”
-Emma Donoghue, Room
During this time of isolation, focus on something you possibly didn’t have time to focus on before, it could be learning to meditate, to do some art, organizing a closet that has needed it forever, finally having time to bake or try a recipe you have haven’t tried before, this is the time to do it! This is uncharted territory for a lot of us, we are used to being busy, we are actually pretty proud of our packed schedules! The universe has handed us a gift during a scary time, the gift of quiet, solidarity, family time, an opportunity to try new things, to rest, to be present. We are in this together, when you are fearful, know we are here for you, our site is always open!
“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” -Marie Curie
