Just curious on what the best pain reliever for your back you have ever taken or take now? What do you take? What works best?
I take Gabapentin (for nerve pain) and Vicoden. I am not getting a ton of relief, but as you all know, after awhile your dosing needs to be increased. I think I am there. I take 4 tablets of 10/625 vicoden per day. Is that alot? Not sure.
Hi Jeanna,
I went through detox March15,2011 after using vicodin and morphine for 3 years. I have Chronic Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia and ruptured discs in my lower back. I now workout with my husband 3 times per week, even running on the treadmill. I got no relief from all the drugs my doctor had me on. I felt worse taking them. I urge you, get off the pills. I take 4 ibuprophen daily with 2000 mg of Glucosamine everyday and Fish Oil. I HAVE NEVER FELT BETTER. Good luck and try your best, okay? P.S. These vitamins and stuff take awhile to work, but they do!!! I fought my husband on this!!! He was right.
I have Degenerative Disc Disease. I take 2 Aleve in the mornings then 2 more later if needed. I think the bottle says to take no more than 2 in a 24 hr period, but our family dr told us the pharmasuitical companies put that there just to protect themselves and we can actually take 2 3x a day or 3 twice a day. My mother-in-law takes it like that for Arthritis. If you can pinpoint the source of the pain in your back ICE ICE ICE. It will hurt at first but once the coolness of an icepack has been applied for for at least 20 minutes you can tell a huge difference. May be you should see a dr about having an MRI or something like that just to make sure it's not something that really does need something more just Aleve or ice. DEFINITELY decrease the Vicoden!!!!!! It's soooooo addictive. If the dose you're taking now doesn't work, you need to see a doctor asap. You have to pace yourself with pain killers bc they are so easy to become addicted. Also know your weaknesses.....for example I can not bend over, I can't even squat....so I don't. I avoid it at all possible. I love to ride the mower and cut grass, but times like this when the flare up are really bad, I have to restrain myself. I cannot mop, sweep, sit up straight. Just knowing what works and what doesn't really makes even the smallest of differences. Glucosamine is also great. And there's is some other stuff i've thought about trying, but haven't yet.....Bioflex...or something like that. I hope you find relief without all the heavy pain meds.
Thanks for the replies and advice. I really don't want to take anymore if thats alot already. That is why I asked the question actually. To see what else was out there that people used.
