What to do?

I have nearly bankrupted myself. I am lucky in that I have very supportive family and good earning potential so that I may be able to resolve this. I have been going less than a month. I am bored and lonely. What do I do instead of shopping? I don’t have a lot of people to spend time with in the evenings as I am at home with children and husband works away. I don’t find TV engaging. I like to read but I read all day at work so don’t necessarily want to do it for pleasure all the time.

I’m scared and feel alone and don’t know what to do with myself. Anyone further down the path who might have any insight?

welcome to the group. i think the hard part is that you have to find what else can help yourself. I know when replacing an addiction with other items, it is often more catered to the individual. Reading helped me a lot but like you said, you read at work all ready. Look to see if there are things you can do in place, check out things in your community, journaling, take up a new hobby, painting perhaps.

What are some hobbies or things you enjoy doing? Is there something you have a passion for? Write reviews on books or even the things you have bought. Look about turning reviews into something you can get paid for. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box.

We wanted to check in and see how you were doing.

Plugging into a local community can do wonders for your sense of self and connection. Find a group or two that reflects your interests and has regular get-togethers. Volunteering with like-minded folks has become a passion for some of my friends looking for new ways to focus their energy.
