Why are certain people turning towards heroin is it the drug of choice? My best friends son is hooked on it he's also has mental problems that attribute to the addiction of any kind. He doesn't want help. What's the best way to deal with this situation.
It's hard to imagine why anyone would want to put a needle in their arm and also knowing how addictive it is. But my father was a heroin addict and ended up in prison. He was willing to rob banks to get his drugs. My daughter lived next door to a family whose son was hooked and he broke her car window, to get something to steal, so he could get more heroin. It cost me over $200 bucks to replace the window. As with any addiction, a person has to want to stop, badly enough to want help. I really feel for a person in that situation, though it is hard for me not to resent it as well. When I was a teenager lots of my friends and I experimented with drugs, especially pot. I grew up in the 60s and 70s, so it was rather common for teenagers, back then. But it was actually very rare that we saw someone we knew, willing to go that far, into the whole drug lifestyle. So sad. : ( Most of my friends grew out of it and started to just drink socially occasionally, have normal jobs, and live normal adult lives. There were those rare few that really had addictive personalities and couldn't get away from it. So as for your friend's son, maybe an intervention, not enabling, etc. Attend ALANON to get better perspective on how not to enable the addict.
It doesnt always start off with a needle in the arm. It can be snorted. And the first time you try it you feel amazing. It doesn't ruin your life immediately, and by the time you realize it is ruining your life its too late, its sucked you in and now your sick and addicted and cant think about anything else. To be a heroin addict is a miserable existence. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.
@disassociated_mess28. Thank you for writing that. It was a perfect explanation. A lot of my friends have heroin impacting their lives. One friends bf began with oxy for pain and now taking heroin because it is cheaper and probably more easily accessible.
