Why would you NOT take medicine to prevent outbreaks if there is medicine to take.... I had my first one and only once since finding out and after that I decided to absolutely take Valtrex. Why do people NOT take it?
I choose not to because my body does a good job on it's own now...In the beginning the OBs were back to back, so I went on suppressive therapy for a few months. Now I will only take it if I have an outbreak. I have some in reserve. I am sensitive to medications and prefer to do the more natural route. Watch my diet and take immune system boosting supplements, and just taking care of my body seems to be working for me good enough. :)
Plus,if I don't have to give my liver those harsh meds, I won't....and I just really hated the side effects too...but that's just me, lots of people don't get the side effects....
It's really hard on the liver if you take it daily.
My doctor says first try taking it as needed and as outbreaks occur. If outbreaks are more than 3-5 a year, then I take a daily med. Basically, you have to become in tune with your body. Take meds you don't need will make your body become immune to it so when you really need it, it won't help.
Too much of any medication can be detrimental to your body.
My doctor never told me that Valtrex would be harmful to my body.
