Hey I was wondering if anyone on here can, tell me a little about xanax, like what are the side effects, how well does it work and is it pretty fast acting, does the effectiveness out weight the side effects? Does anyone know if it comes in a liquid or a capsule so I can sprinkle it in ice-cream or yogurt? The reason why I ask because my counselor have suggested that I get a prescription for it, but I want to do some research and ask people about the medicine that may take it well if you take Xanax and you don't mind telling me a little bit about it I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Princess
I take Xanax & it works great.
Xanax may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Xanax:
Changes in appetite; constipation; decreased sexual desire or ability; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; light-headedness; nausea; tiredness; weight changes.
Get medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Xanax:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); behavior changes; blurred vision; burning, numbness, or tingling; chest pain; confusion; dark urine; decreased coordination; decreased urination; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; loss of balance or muscle control; memory or attention problems; menstrual changes; muscle twitching; new or worsening mental or mood changes (eg, depression, irritability, anxiety; exaggerated feeling of wellbeing); overstimulation; red, swollen blistered, or peeling skin; severe or persistent dizziness, drowsiness, or light-headedness; shortness of breath or trouble breathing; suicidal thoughts or actions; tremor; trouble speaking; yellowing of the eyes or skin.
I hope this helps. I don't know anything about sprinkling it on anything. LoL
I've been on Xanax for almost ten years....I couldn't go out in public without it, I don't think. Although I do have a very high tolerance to it now. It really helped & continues to help, my mama passed away about 5 yrs ago...& when bad thoughts start coming, I'll take one, they help. They help me for a lot of different reasons. They calm me when I feel a panic attack coming on. They also help me sleep better, although I also take Ambien & Trazodone. I hope I helped a little =)....
I deal with anxiety and panic attacks and once upon a time I did take Xanax. I know not everything is mind over matter but there is a great book called The Power of NOW and it changed my life. The worst thing about Xanax, and I work in the medical field, is that is is very addicting. You will always need to take more and more and can have severe issues if you stop taking it, like seizures. I would do your reseach and see if the good outweighs the bad. Good luck to you :)
I just wanted to thank u, if u were talking to me…about weighing the bads…& the book, I need to get that. U know I run out every month…& it do have a tolerance…And when I run out, or I just close, I start panicking. Would I have to go in the hospital to detox…to keep from having seizures? Is there another medication that would help just as well, like I’d be starting over? Was that a dumb question? I took Klonopins for a while, too. I’m tired of all this medication. Thx for ur support.=)
I was given a 10 day supply, with 3 pills for each day. I made it last like a month. I was taking it at the same time that I was taking Valium. I never believed those who said it was addicting. But it truly is. I have Panic Disorder, so of course this was a God send....no....I would suggest don't do it. There are SO many other ways to work around your issues. My body grew a tolerance for Xanax within 2 days. So after 2 days I was taking more and more. The same with Valium. I would take like 4 xanax and 4 Valium all at the same time. And then at night I would throw it a lot of Trazadone too. I just didn't get care about myself. And I was completely taking advantage of it. I mean c'mon...for once I felt CALM. It was amazing. But once I ran out, I thought I was going to die. How was I going to make it through the day without my Xanax? It would make me feel really light, and a little loopy. But of course I loved it because I felt at ease. Looking back, I dont regret it because it was a lesson learned. I just would not suggest it. Not that Xanax is the Devil's drug or anything....it just comes with the chance so SO MANY consequences.
The only thing I ever had was rebound Anxiety. I would just wait it out so I didn't have to take another.
It makes me so tired. I do not take it unless I have my husband home to watch the kids.
I have been lucky I suppose, I haven't gotten addicted although I know it can be addictive. Yes I'm sure I'm not addicted :) But if you can find other ways to cope more power to you! Xanax is not good really but my attacks were so bad, that plus irresponsible doctors I have dealt with so I did take them and do have some around but I am planning to go without them now, so far no withdrawal or side effects oh yes one side effect, I can think straight and not feel buzzed for a change :). I'm impressed so many people here are trying to walk through these attacks without drugs, but again it depends on the severity...sometimes it's necessary for awhile; Good luck all :)
Well, I haven't been on here in a long while, I regret that...I get really depressed & can't get out of bed. About the Xanax, I'm getting scared...my tolerance is so high, that I run out in less than two weeks...& have to get some through friends...& I can feel the withdrawal coming on. As in, Hyper-sensitive, cannot get comfortable in my skin, awful, intrusive thoughts, I start panicking, I don't know what to do...Is there a way to slow down without these side effects without having to go into a hospital? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! =)
Let me tell you something. Zanex is the BEST ANTI ANXIETY DRUG KNOW TO MANKIND.
Ive been prescribed zanax for 10 years and the PHAR and PSY community work together to make as much money as possible so they dont like to prescribe zanax because its cheap and they dont make any money off it.. It cost me $9 to fill my preceription of 90 1M and also because most people abuse it..they drink and do other drugs or dont take it as prescribed in other situations...Drinking and drugs and Zanex like many other drugs can cause your heart to stop...I dont abuse it and dont drink or smoke and I eat right. I also work out and take other ammino acids and suppliments and I have never had any memory loss but doctors will tell you that because they want to give you some garbage that they can profit from that will make you worse...Zanex is the best..Just a little in your system every night is fine and its not addictive.. thats BS..Take care of your body and dont abuse the meds...Im bi-polar but Zanex saved my life and it just evens me out..At one time I was prescribed 3m a day which is a ton. I weaned myself down to 1/8 a M and yes there are severe withdraw symptoms if you don't wean yourself off properly but its most important to note that everyone should work toward being as healthy as you can and that includes mental health. You must learn and acquire coping skills to manage your mental health.. Oh and Ive been taking 1/8M a day for about 2 years and Im not addicted or craving taking more.. The addiction part is BS..Try eliminating as much sugar as you can from your diet. I only use palm syrup, never ever sugar.
I think the only save way to detox your way off of it , would be to do it in the hospital. Because so many things can happen. Hope you can do it
HATE IT, it didnt do anything for me except make me want to sleep ..Take something else
thx for all ur comments....I'm scared..but when I'm running low...I start feeling withdrawals symptoms cmg on...So, i just need to ween myself down a little at a time. I think I might end up in the hospital anyway cuz of other meds. Plzzz I hope not. xoxo
