It is hard, I know other people have messed up families, but when you talk to people who have at least involved families it is hard, I wish I could have given that to my kids, I took it for granted when I was younger getting gifts in the mail from family. Yes I buy my kids gifts, but extended family, not so much. And yes, who needs all the presents, but it is the thought and knowledge of love behind the gifts.

Excellent point, it does hurt not to have family who are involved and love you like they should, but add in the next generation and boom, generational trauma, just do your best to show them that they are loved and while others might have more family in their lives, that is just not in the cards for your family due to them not being good and aware human beings.
