Hi therenew here and starting therapy tomorrow to address my OCD

Hi there. Suffered from OCD and anxiety for about 10 years...misdiagnosed before as depressed and given wrong meds (remeron). Finally found a dr who I think can help me and I start seeing her tomorrow.

I work full time in a stressful field, have a great 3 year old kid and a fiance who makes my OCD worse...markedly.

My OCD centers around contamination of food, locking doors and general phobia of food (opening it, if it spoiled or not refridgerated, if things are moved, etc). It makes it hard to function. My fiance is an idiot who leaves doors unlocked, gave himself food poisoning a few weeks ago and was basically dying for 48 hours...(that didnt help my fear of food!). If it werent for peanut butter sandwiches and oatmeal, I'd die. Oh, and luna bars.

Anyhow, I am happy to have found a group of people who can relate. From the posts I have read you all seem varied in your type of OCD but everyone seems to be in the same place - trying to find help, function, find answers and some comfort from people who can understand. I hope I can join your group as I start on this journey. I need to get this under control :(
