I have been recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism but told it is in remission.. between the loss of weigh, no appetite, hair loss and depression, it doesn't feel like remission.. I am so depressed.. haven't slept in months.. I am at my wits end.. can't get xanax to help with anxiety and no medication other than a beta blocker because of the supposed remission..

I have Hashimoto's Disease, and swing between hyper and hypo. I know what you're going through, to some extent. Recently, I was taking a medication that made me dangerously hyperthyroid (I'm not sure where my levels are at now) and I went through everything that you mention. A lot of times, doctors don't listen. Endocrinologists are in short supply, and tend to look at numbers, not symptoms. The best advice I can give you is to find a naturopath/MD who practices "functional" or "integrative"l medicine. If you have insurance, call your company and see if they cover anyone close to you in these categories.

@VioletteLeDuke Also, make sure to get your thyroid antibodies tested if you haven’t already. If autoimmunity is at the root of your troubles (Graves Disease, Hashimoto’s, etc.) there’s a lot more to consider than medication. Diet and stress management are extremely important. I suggest visiting a site called “Stop the Thyroid Madness” (STTM)

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease in March 2023, I went thru a thyroid storm for 4 months, I lost the ability to speak for 3 weeks, could not even form coherent sentences without talking 10 min in between, my eyes twitched and they swell, I had my thyroid removed in September 2023 to save my eyes as my Dr put it, they have gotten worse, I now have been diagnosed with thyroid eye disease and I’m waiting to get in to see the specialist, I’m so depressed, my family tries to understand but they have NO idea!! I just recently had to early retire due to my health and eyes, I’m starting to feel like a burden!!
