I read in newspaper today that the PA fr mgt group got fired after writing 21,000 opioid prescriptions in something like 3 years without following protocol for administering serious pain medications. This comes on the heels of my doctor being charged with 10 counts of murder for over prescribing medication in his patient's pain pumps. Two cases were past the statue of limitations and one of those was the lead singer of band Slipnot Thank God for Mayo Clinic's Pain Rehabilitation Clinic. Pretty scary when the last thing dr said to me was, "if PRC doesn't work we can always put in a pain pump"

Don't bash the pain maintenance system based on a couple of Drs. I have used pain meds. for years without putting Myself or anyone else at risk. I didn't think there was a statue of limitations on murder? Onre

I know there are good drs and bad drs I have been on meds since 1980 so it wasn't my first rodeo, not even the first one to get shut down. Just know I was pretty close to loosing my life.

I currently have the worst pain management group! My insurance said they are aware they aren't managing patients pain. Okay well in the mean time I do what? Suffer!
I understand there are people who are drug seeking, but some of us really do rely on pain medication to have a quality of life.

@KathyMeoowz i relate to the pain management. i deal with it too. my issue with them is i feel they just push pills. i had a stroke 5 yrs ago and i am diabetic. my local dr had me on atavan, then percocets, well the dose was to much so i started having these bad i can’t breath, panic attacks, ended up in ER alot, clinic. needless to say hubby was over dosed, abused the pills because his pain is severe. anyway arkansas just about has it to where no dr want to write pain meds, afraid of DEA and new laws. so we drive 3 hr rd trip to see pain dr, sit 1 to 3 hrs at times, aide comes in does vitals, then dr comes in ok what can i do for you today. so he has me on a pain patch 75 to 100mgm of fentynal, and duladan 4mg for break thru pain. we are at the end of the list i can take. the ride cost,co-pay, etc is bad. i feel for you go to pain management and come home and are in pain for 29 out of 30days. hope you find a solution to your problem.
