My husband is now down to his last three chemos. Suggestions on how to get him to push through? He's struggling keeping his spirit up. What kinds of things helped you push through those low moments? Positive thoughts?
I can't help with this one other then to say that I am having my first of 16 treatments tomorrow. I would remind Greg how far he has come in comparison with how little he has to go. He will push through.
Yeah, he just gets so down a couple of days before treatment. I feel helpless to cheer him up, and I have one of those "fixer" personalities. LOL
I would suggest prayer and those days before chemo try to do things he really enjoys to get his mind off of it 24/7 because that's what happens a few days before it seems like the thought of it consumes you and you feel like **** I have to go through this mess again. Try to creat some mental distractions.
Hi Gregswife,
I am right there without your hubby and have my last treatment Wednesday. I know how hard it is to get through it. I too am so over all of this and just want to be FINISHED. I meditate before I go to treatment and focus on the "light at the end of the tunnel"
I can't say it is easy but it is my method and certainly helps. Also, i give myself a "treat" on my off weeks as a reward. Sometimes, it is to my favorite restaurant or a pedicure/manicure.
Keep the faith too!
Best of luck and positive wishes to your husband.

Thanks, ya'll!
He had a rough time today. Matter of fact, I haven't seen him awake since we parted ways at 7:30 this morning. But, only two more to go!
I was a little surprised that they close their office the day after Thanksgiving. (That's when his next treatment should've been) So now it's been bumped out another week. I know everyone deserves to have some holiday time with their families, but I think they should at least have a skeleton crew there.
Anyone else think that's weird?? Or, maybe I'm just being selfish because I know he wants to be done so badly. LOL
My clinic is closed both days as well. They moved my treatment up a day so I can have it right before Thanksgiving...yay.
Just a little selfish but I understand because I kept telling my doctor he said I was getting 8 treatments instead of 12 because I wanted it to be over.
Yes, my treatment center is also closed on Friday. My treatments are just scheduled on WEdnesdays so I lucked out.
Just FYI, I was KNOCKED OUT from my treatment last week and was in bed for almost 2 days before I even got up. He needs his rest. Keep reminding him that he has ONLY 2 LEFT. Encouragement! Yeah for him! He can do it and we are all here pulling for him too.
Hugs!
My husband will receive his very FIRST treatment on the Friday after Thanksgiving. This is the only day of the week that his Doctor is at our local facility.
After reading the other posts I feel truly fortunate that this office will be open the day after a holiday... and we don't have to wait another week to begin this journey.
I understand that completely. We wanted to get started as soon as possible, too.
Thanks for your response.
If you have any advice as a ‘caregiver’ to this newbie, it would be appreciated. ~ Joyce
Music!
I can't explain what a difference a set of good songs
has on my attitude. My friends all want to help and
there's not much they can do but they make me great
music sets.
Huge support.
Interesting idea! We'll have to give that a try. We're both huge music lovers. :)
