Meds

I think my Xanax may be making my depression worse. But at the same time it does help my anxiety.

When i don't take my Xanax I feel a little better emotionally. But when I take it as prescribed I feel awful and I look awful.

However, I have been drinking a lot lately...I don't know if that has anything to do with my depressed mood since I know alcohol is a depressant.

Has anyone else felt this way--I medicine that is keeping me from freaking out is making me feel unworthy and depressed.

Hi Abrum, I suggest seeing your doctor. You should not drink alcohol while taking Xanax. Here http://www.drugs.com/xanax.html it says, "Do not drink alcohol while taking Xanax. This medication can increase the effects of alcohol." As you stated also, alcohol does not help depression because it is a depressant.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing. We are here for you. ((((hugs))))

Listen to those feelings you have if when you feel better without.. Your body , mind and soul are trying to tell you something..taper off with help of your doctor... Deal with anxiety on a different way and of course alcohol-/ they're all tools to help us deal with stuff going on inside us.. Better said, "crutches" not tools.. Best wishes...

consult the doctor ..maybe they can reduce the dose

Can't always trust doctors..just saying

Xanax definitely worsens my depression. And helps my anxiety. It's a catch 22.
