Have you tried electronic cigarrettes. I hear a lot of people are able to stop smoking using them. Your still smoking , but its cost effective and healthier.
i havent smoked a cigarette in 4 days and ive been smoking for 8 years about a pack a day maybe even more.. my scapegoat .... deff the electric cigarette
its a cheap fix and it works ! i believe the website is myvaporstore.com and to get the refilable liquid its vikingvapor.com im telling you i smoked newports and i tried the creme de menthe flavor its not bad .. well good luck in your will to quit and i will still fight my battle ...
I have smoked for twenty years, light smoker about 1 to 4 a day but that's to many the denist said I have gum diease and my teeth are changing so much I cry all the time I hate my teeth now, but I still have a cig because that's all I think about I can't stop
I haven't had a cig for 11 days. A heavy smoker for 27 years. Tried to quit so many times, so many different methods, but this time I am trying to be strong and using patches. I will follow the entire program for 3 months, I hope. You can do it with me?
Sending waves of strength to you Sole ::)))
I don't experience this personally but figured I would throw some things out there just in case it might help you. My fiance has been a heavy smoker for about 20 years as well and is in the same boat as you. His health is going downhill and he doesn't want it anymore.
Something that worked for him before, was the patch and he also replaced cigarettes with lollipops. So whenever he felt the urge, he got a lollipop. If you think about it, sucking on a lollipop is almost the same routine as smoking a cigarette in the constant lifting to the mouth, "sucking", and then taking it out.
Hope this helps. :)
The electronic cig works great if you can commit to it and the weight of the cig doesn't throw you off.
I tried the nose spray, prescription, and it works other than feeling like you have pepper in your nose for a few seconds.
The patch gave me hives all over my body and still reacts to any consumable plants that are in the nightshade family. (lips swell) **Not everyone has this reaction**
The little tablets you suck on with nicotine are gross tasting.
Dr. refused to put me on Chantrex because of family history of Bipolar disorder and depression.
Any of these can work but unlike me, you have to be commited.
I've made a deal with my boyfriend that if he can NOT COMMENT on me smoking for 30 days, I'll really focus on quiting. You have to have the right mentality though and remove yourself from situations where smoking is around you; at least until you can handle being around it and not needing one.
Lollipops stopped me from smoking in the car after my son was born. It's a great distraction but when it comes to smoking or a lollipop when only I am affected, I want a cig.
It's like any addiction, you have to choose to stop and commit to it. No matter what method you use.
Hi Sole,
I quit smoking the 22nd of August. I had been smoking since I was 13 years old. The only time I quit was when I was pregnant with my second child. And I only quit then was because I had a miscarriage after trying to have a second child for 4 years. I have tried to quit so many times that I can't even count. I would quit for a day or two but something would stress me out and I would go buy a pack. I tried quitting for health reasons or for financial reasons. I am also trying to get off hydrocodones that I take for chronic pain in my back and knee from a car accident. That is proving to be harder. But what got me to finally quit was that I decided that only Jesus could get me to quit so I prayed and made a commitment to quit for Him. It's been almost 4 weeks and I have had only one craving. You can't beat yourself up for failing to quit. You have to quit for the right reasons and be mentally ready for it. I don't know if you are a praying person but ask God to prepare you to quit. I know you can do it. We all have it in us to quit anything addictive but it has to be for the right reasons.
