Renfrew

Does anyone on here go to or have attended Renfrew of PA? I start there in a couple weeks and am terrified

Sorry, I havent heard of it before...does it specialize in treating ED sufferer's?

I've heard really good things about it. I met one lady who used to work there, and I wasn't much of a fan of hers, but other than that I've heard good things.

would be great if you could tell us what you know about it purely for the sake of informing about it might be worth for others to look into it too :-)

All I know is my friend went there and it helped her a lot. The program I'm doing is called "Intensive out patient" which is a day program and they basically feed you, make you meet with a nutritionist, and undergo therapy. I'm really scared about the food part though, I really really really don't wanna gain weight (I know thats the ED talking, but its such a fear)

i know that fear gracy, as im sure all of us do.
i too am waiting to get my date for IP and i know im gonna have to eat a hell of a lot more than i do now, so weight gain is very likely. but it doesnt mean we're gonna end up being overweight or anything. they just want us to be healthy, that's all. and again, i know how hard it is to accept that!

i wish you good luck with it!! keep us updated along the way :-)

lots of hugs

I don’t think I could handle being fatter. I’ve gained so much weight recently.

I heard good things about it..I wanted to go there but my insurance wouldnt cover it. So I went to cope in pittsburgh AGAIN!

Whats that? and you could always try switching insurance?

I heard of Renfrew... Not so sure about it... Good thing it is going to be a day program.
Listening and following nutritionists orders made my body and mind feel much happier, in the long run, you just have to get past the initial fear, and I'm sure you will!

I went to a day program after I came out of the hospital. It was a REALLY big help!

I live close to there! I'll come visit!!! :)

Yes. I attended many years ago.
It is surrounded by trees and when I was there I looked out my bedroom window and it was snowing. It's a very serene environment
I wasn't impressed with the groups because I am a clinical social worker so I attempted to form a group outside the groups which didn't go well with the staff. I was still not accepting help
For the most part my visit was helpful. There's a psychiatrist on the premises; food is of course low fat and was good. It was cooked with love from a very funny chef. Counselors are always available; the common areas were comfortable; visitation is allowed if you ok the visitor; and the post admission group was very helpful for my friends and family.
Hope this helped.
