Self-therapy

hey everyone. This is my first time joining this kind of thing, and I've never dealt with the serious physical results from eating disorders because I've never gone that far. thank god.
I suppose the pressure from school etc...made me relapse into the same self-destructive thinking and actions that I worked on in high school. Anyway, I go to school in Maryland and am from philly, but my winter break is too short to really gain any kind of meaningful improvement from a therapist..so i was wondering what things you guys do to "self-therapize" in place of/in addition to actual therapy appointments?

I just really want to beat that ugly voice that I'm sure you all are very familiar with.

much love,
Grace

Self-help books are a good start, if you can't get to a therapist. Whether you prefer audio books (which I think are more helpful, since you can listen to them at work, on the go, whatever) or reading physical book, knowing that you're not alone in your battle is comforting. I'm starting a Self-Help Book Club, or attempting to, so if that's something you might be interested in, drop me a line. I've got a dozen or so ED books that I can e-mail pdf files of.

I have found a lot of recovery through attending various anonymous group phone meetings. Through these, I meet a lot of like- minded people... Like, a lot of my eating disorder had come from my family life, so attending AlAnon, Adult Children of Alcoholics (and otherwise dysfunctional families), and Overeaters Anonymous (even though I am an undereater, their is one anorexic, bulemic and compulsive eating meetings on Saturdays); I also know of Anorexics and Bulemics Anonymous (ABA)... I don't know whether or not any one of these programs would work for you, but I will say that I have gotten so much help through these rooms, much more than therapy ever gave me...
I am trying to start a meeting for Orthorexia, and I just posted a group for it on intherooms.com, which is the recovery version of Facebook.
