I was diagnosed with stage II diffuse large B cell lymphoma in my chest area in May. I went through 6 rounds of R-Chop and then 20 treatments of radiation therapy. I was classified in complete remission in October. In November I experienced some soreness in my skin around my chest and back. It has subsided a little but is still sore. I have also been having some difficuty with breathing. At times I feel like I need to cough when I take a breath. It is intermittent but has been persistent. I was wondering if anyone else experienced these types of side effects after undergoing chemo and radiation.
Hi Eaganj, I'm checking in to see how you are feeling now? I hope you're feeling better and better. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you puppydoglvr.
Feeling better. Still have soreness in the chest and abdomen area but my oncologist said this may be the lasting effects from radiation. Something I may have to live with. The breathing is a little better since my last post. Hoping to get better with time. Thank you for your response.
Hi Eaganj, Happy New Year! Wishing you a year filled with lots of love, health, and success. I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better and I know that you will continue on this path of feeling better and better. Please keep sharing, as I would love to know how you are doing.
Hi Eaganj,
I was just diagnosed w/stomach lymphoma and am beginning my radiation treatments next week. Today my radiation oncologists reviewed the side effects and long term effects, which include some lung scarring, and soreness/skin tenderness as you described. I hope that you will feel better each day.

Hi Newfiemom
Thank you for your response. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but this type of cancer is highly treatable and curable. I hope for nothing but the best for you.
Before I did radiation, I did six rounds of chemo. Do you have to go through the chemo regime?
The actual radiation treatments were very quick and relativley painless. My short term issue was an inflammation of my esophogus. This made swallowing painful. It was relieved shortly after my last treatment (I had 20 of them). The skin irritation persists but is pretty manageable. My cough continues but I think it is part of a cold that I am having trouble shaking. I still think my immune system is not up to par which is why it is taking so long to get over. Everyone keeps telling me that it will take a while to get back to feeling better. Just need to keep patient.
Best of luck with your radiation treatments. Please let us all know how you are doing.
eaganj, checking in to see how you're doing.
