Mixed messages about medical marijuana and marijuana legalization is being blamed for a change in attitude that is sparking an increase in marijuana use among teens of all ages in the U.S. The latest Monitoring the Future survey shows increaes in marijuana use in eighth-graders, tenth-graders and high school seniors.
The federally-funded survey of 46,482 students also found increases in the use of Ecstasy and prescription drugs.
The good news is binge drinking and tobacco use rates are down among the nation's teens, but officials are alarmed at the increase of marijuana use among adolescents, which they say may continue to rise.
